Every CCC Friendship has a special CCChampions gameplan.
It all begins with our unique 4-step process:
Teaming Up: When a child signs up for CCChampions, he or she is partnered with an athlete who can best meet his or her specific preferences. In this step, we really get to know the child…we want to know what are his or her favorite things to do, personality, and biggest dreams. Then, we work in our network of athletes to find a new friend that can truly inspire.
Induction Ceremony: At our special CCC Induction Ceremony, we invite the child (and his or her family) to personally meet the athlete. We share lots of stories, the child is presented with a customized jersey, a personal scrapbook, a Star of Courage, and the CCC Friendship is born.
Building Team Chemistry: Through postcards, phone calls, texts, or visits, CCChampions helps the athlete communicate regularly with the child during meaningful occasions in the child’s life. We work with doctors, nurses, child life specialists, and the child’s family to help the athletes truly make a difference in the boys’ and girls’ lives.
Winning the Championship: To cap off the 6 month CCC Friendship, the child is presented with a replica Championship trophy (Stanley Cup, Commissioner’s Trophy, etc.) to celebrate a real champion!

…but the inspiration doesn’t end there! With CCChampions’ year-round community events, we do so much more than build friendships. We create an entire team of other boys and girls with cancer, families, athletes, and community members to continually promote the social health of our CCChampions children.
