Brett & Jim Rooker

Jim Rooker is a former Major League Baseball pitcher and broadcaster.  He pitched in the MLB for 13 seasons and is now excited to be a part of CCChampions! Jim is most famous for his “If we lose this game, I’ll walk home!” claim as a Pirates broadcaster in 1989. The Pirates scored 10 runs in the first inning against the Philadelphia Phillies…and then went on to lose the game. Turning it into a charity event, Jim had a fun summer, walking 300+ miles all the way across Pennsylvania.

One of the first things Jim did when he met Brett at his CCC Induction Ceremony was yank off his 1979 World Series ring, give it to Brett, and say “If I forget this by the time I leave…consider it yours!” Needless to say, Brett was pretty excited.

“I didn’t have all the talent in the world. I wasn’t the best, but I was pretty good. And so I beat the odds.

…and that’s what I want you to do.”
